Arts festival is enjoying a resurgence

Thousands of people crammed into Downtown on Sunday to get a last glimpse of artsy wares, paintings and jewelry as the Three Rivers Arts Festival wrapped up its annual 10-day run in Gateway Center and Point State Park.Organizers yesterday said it was too early to know how many people attended the 53rd year of the event, but said the number "is definitely in the hundreds of thousands.""We will be spending this evening and likely tomorrow putting together a solid estimate," said Derek Scalzott, marketing manager for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, which produced the festival.
