The LED 4 Crops facility at Stockbridge Technology Centre houses a variety of LED light test situations where different mobile LED racks of lighting are used to grow crops.Brough-based CambridgeHOK is the business behind the construction and monitoring of the equipment for the research to take place.Tim Haworth, general manger at CambridgeHOK, said: "We know we can grow crops without natural light but this project is about understanding which crops need which light remedies."The business, which produces commercial glasshouses, is also working with Philips Lighting at the research centre, which can work to enable the light spectrum to be changed to see if plants grow better under different conditions.
