Coweta County's foster children receive back-to-school clothing through CASA

"Thanks to the Joy FM and Charter Bank, Coweta’s foster children will begin the 2012-13 school year with brand new clothing."
Coweta CASA Inc. and other CASA programs in the area were recipients of a week-long clothing drive by the Joy FM at local Charter Banks. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Coweta County citizens, Coweta CASA Inc. was able to donate approximately $2,500 in new apparel and more than $400 in gift cards to the foster children they serve.How do foster children end up without adequate clothing? An overburdened system, explains Corné. While the child welfare system is full of compassionate lawyers, judges, social workers and foster families, meeting the needs and protecting the rights of each child becomes more and more difficult, she said. Too many children in the system get bounced around from house to house, end up separated from their siblings, or live in group homes until they "age out." This is why the CASA program exists, she said.
